To be reviewed for admission to the University of Houston, applicants must submit:
- an application,
- application fee,
- official transcripts, and
- national test scores, where applicable.
Students must be admitted by the Office of Admissions before they can enroll for courses at the university.
Freshman applicants are recent high school graduates or earned a GED, with less than 15 accredited college credit hours earned after high school graduation. Applicants are considered for admission to an undergraduate major on the basis of graduation from an accredited high school or recognition from the appropriate governing board.
Transfer applicants have earned 15 or more accredited college credit hours after high school graduation or earning a GED. Applicants are considered for admission on the basis of their attempted course work at other regionally accredited colleges and universities.
