Prerequisite: Acceptance to the graduate certificate program in Global Energy, Development, and Sustainability.

This course analyzes the effectiveness of local content laws as applied in the international context. Drawing from the fields of organizational behavior, human resource management, and real-life case studies, students will learn current ¿best practices¿ for improving competencies in local energy workforces and businesses. Topics include: measuring skill levels, impediments to progress, creation of culturally-appropriate training, delivering accelerated technical and soft-skills to employees, the role of expatriates in cross-cultural mentoring, and developing effective compensation/rewards systems.
