Coursework
Elective courses will be chosen to reflect the career interest of the students and the dual nature of the program, with the guidance from program directors and the academic advisors. The program directors may create detailed academic plans and recommended curricula for the dual-degree program, in collaboration with selected faculty.
Students should consul with academic advisors and program directors about their curriculum. For information on the feasible or recommended curriculum designs and course sequences, please visit these webpages:
Upon completion of at least 24 SCH of graduate coursework in each of the two programs, up to 6 credit hours from the MIE curriculum will apply towards the MSF degree (as elective credit), and up to 6 credit hours from the MSF curriculum will apply towards the MIE degree (as elective credit). Which courses are to be applied in this way must be described in the student’s petition form; any changes of the approved petition form require the approval of the graduate advisors or program directors.
Grades earned for courses from the MSF curriculum will not be considered in computing the student’s overall average, class rank, or eligibility for honors in the Cullen College of Engineering, or in the determining whether the student is maintaining the 3.0 minimum graduate GPS required by the Cullen College of Engineering for graduation. The effect shall be as if the courses were taken on a pass/fail basis. Likewise, grades earned for courses from the MIE curriculum will not be considered in computing the student’s overall average, class rank, or eligibility for honors in the Bauer College of Business, or in determining whether the student is maintaining the 3.0 minimum graduate GPA required by the Bauer College of Business for graduation.
Once enrolled in both programs of the dual degree, the highest tuition of both programs will be charged.
